Description

The Hungry Tiger of Oz

In which the winsome Hungry Tiger is whisked away to the Kingdom of Rash in an attempt to satisfy his appetite. Little betsy Bobbin and the perky Vegetable Man join him and young Prince Reddy in a search for the three magic Rash Rubies.

They travel through the Gnome Kingdom, whereupon the tiger is captured by the Giant Big Wigs. Meanwhile, Princess Ozma herself is kidnapped from the Emerald City by Atmos Fere the Airman. Will the Rash Rubies be magic enough to rescue our friends, defeat the wicked Pash, and return Reddy to his throne as the Rightful Ruler of Rash?

We have recently acquired a supply of the first nine Ruth Plumly Thompson Oz books as issued by Del Rey in the mid-1980s. These “like new” copies are forty years old and look like they were printed yesterday! Each are first printings of the Del Rey paperbacks featuring the stunning new cover paintings by Michael Herring. Del Rey’s later printings were produced via “Print on Demand” with badly warped and stretched cover art. Don’t miss this chance to collect these forty-year-old original paperback editions – while supplies last!

The Hungry Tiger of Oz, a work first published in 1926, contains some racial and ethnic references that may be offensive to modern readers. Readers should be aware, however, that these do not reflect the attitudes of Hungry Tiger Press and that they merely reflect the language, and its usage, of the early twentieth century.
